Wheatland County, situated in the U.S. state of Montana, has a population of 2,069 as per the 2020 census. Harlowton serves as its county seat. The county was officially established on February 22, 1917, through the partition of areas from Meagher and Sweet Grass counties. Its name is derived from the extensive wheat-growing regions located in the central part of the county.
