Cemetery Worker

Wheatland County is seeking a dedicated and respectful individual for the position of Seasonal Cemetery Worker. This role is essential for maintaining the dignity and beauty of the county cemetery. You will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks under the general supervision of the County Commissioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Caretaking & Maintenance: Operate a variety of equipment, including backhoes, mowers, and dump trucks, to maintain cemetery grounds and sprinkler systems.
- Burial Assistance: Assist in opening and closing graves; coordinate with families and funeral homes to locate gravesites with tact and diplomacy.
- Equipment Care: Perform routine checks and minor maintenance (oil, fuel, tires, etc.) on assigned tools and vehicles.
- Record Keeping: Maintain logs of daily activities and accurate grave location records.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- License: Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (more with assistance), bend, crawl, and climb.
- Work Environment: Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, and dampness).
- Experience: Previous experience in grounds maintenance or small engine operation is preferred.

Dispatcher & Corrections Officer

Join our dynamic team as a Dispatcher and Corrections Officer, where your energetic and detail-oriented approach will play a vital role in maintaining safety, efficiency, and effective communication within our community. In this role, you will coordinate emergency responses, manage communication systems, and support law enforcement, medical, and fire personnel to ensure the safety of law enforcement officers and your surrounding counties. Your proactive mindset and exceptional communication skills will help foster a secure environment while providing critical support in high-pressure situations. You will become POST Certified in Public Safety Communications and Corrections/Detention Officer Basic at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. You must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check. This job includes working shift work, holidays, and weekends and comes with a 20-year retirement plan.
Responsibilities:
- Operate multi-line phone systems with professionalism, ensuring clear and courteous communication with callers, law enforcement, medical teams, and internal staff
- Dispatch emergency services and law enforcement units promptly using GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to determine accurate locations
- Conduct phone triage to assess situations quickly, prioritize responses, and provide clear instructions or information to callers
- Utilize analysis skills to evaluate incident dtaqils, determine appropriate actions,a nd coordinate resources efficiently
- Maintain accurate data entry of incident reports, logs, and communication records with attention to detail
- Book in/out inmates. Supply them meals and medications, take them to court, or set up Zoom court for them. Do their laundry and take care of their daily basic needs.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of GIS technology, GPS navigation, and multi-line phone systems
- Excellent communication skills with phone etiquette that conveys professionalism and empathy
- Ability to analyze complex situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
- Familiarity with law enforcement procedures, security protocols, and correctional operations
- Proficient in data entry, typing accuracy, and documentation management
