Attention Montana Voters:
As the June 2, 2026, primary election approaches, changes beyond election administrators’ control have occurred. For months, election administrators across the state have been conducting outreach and education for voters regarding same-day registration changes enacted by Senate Bill 490.
On Friday, May 8, 2026, District Court Judge Adam Larsen granted a preliminary injunction against Senate Bill 490. Registration on Monday is available until noon, and registration on Election Day is available until 8 PM. Registrants should anticipate and prepare for potentially long lines on Election Day.
Election administrators are working tirelessly to keep the election running seamlessly and with as little disruption to voters as possible. We regret the confusion this has caused voters in preparation for election day. Election Administrators will continue outreach to keep voters informed of any further changes between now and Election Day, June 2, 2026.
