Emergency Management
The Emergency Management Director leads the county’s efforts to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters, as outlined in Montana Code Annotated 10-3-201. This role includes developing and updating emergency plans, analyzing risks, and coordinating policies that guide how the county manages all-hazards events.
Wheatland County Emergency Management works closely with local response agencies, neighboring jurisdictions, state partners, and federal authorities to ensure a unified and effective approach during emergencies. The department oversees preparedness programs, response coordination, and long-term recovery planning for both natural and human-caused incidents.
The mission of Wheatland County Emergency Management is simple: protect people, property, and our way of life. We work every day to reduce risk, strengthen community resilience, and improve safety through planning, training, public education, and ongoing mitigation efforts. Whether it’s severe weather, wildland fire, infrastructure failures, or emerging threats, Emergency Management is committed to helping our community be ready and stay safe.
